“mock exam” day
Today was our “mocks” for our Ambi Tech exams in a few weeks. Note, this was the mock, not the real thing, not even like real mocks where your results are what get sent to UCAS and your university places hinge on it….
I came home with a banging headache as the collective tension in the room was sending me up the wall. One bloke (who is normally a twitterer at the best of times) talked total ****** all day, analysed and re-analysed every question in the theory paper, talked about how this new system was better/worse/harder/fairer than the last system and generally got up every one’s nose. The woman I was paired with for 2 practicals was nearly throwing up with nerves, totally fouled up 1 part but we salvaged it as I took over (it was meant to be her turn to lead) and generally 10 out of the 14 people were acting like teenagers about to go into their A-level exams. The other 4 of us just got wound up by the general BS level, sailed through the pracs (cos we weren’t hyper with nerves) and just wanted to get away from the rest of them…..
Meanwhile “back at the ranch”…. Becca was being looked after by Ann (her Godmum, Big Dave’s wife) and was having a wonderful time. Managed to do half a colouring book, read the second starfall book, bake muffins, go up to the civic for a few hours to see “SuperGran” aka Sue who is one of the Elder Red Cross Stateswomen (wonderful lady, in her late 60s, looks about 50 if that, full of life, you know the sort)
Tim introduced her to the delights of Stanley Holoway monologues this evening. Not sure how much she “got” but I will admit to really enjoying listening to them even if Tim does to a pathetic Lancs. accent! (not saying mine is any better mind!!!!)
