Thanks for all the offers!
Kirsty, I WILL come and see you some time in the near(ish) future! Honest! Gimme a few dates you are free adn we will sort it out! Oh, what do you think to the reading books? They are something I would probably borrow rather than buy I think as they aren’t something you would return to again and again like the read alouds.
Jan and Merry, would love to look at your stash! I suspect I will end up buying some of them if previous years are anything to go by - we still use the pre-k books for bedtime stories as well as the Herriot collection and will get a lot of milage out of some of the other books over the years too either as bedtime/chill out time read alouds or when she can read for herself. Things liek Heidi and Charlotte’s Web I think i will buy as I know they will be well read, I may borrow some of the other stuff though so thank you both!
Jan, I know what you mean on the CD however she loves the one we have (I slightly dislike it mainly as there are so few original tunes on it!!!) and loves the Ishmael one she has too (which I really like too - i grew through my teen years with his silly songs and they are one of the few happy memories of that time) and both “embellish” a little. I’m not too worried about the embellishments, I am happy for her to know the gist of the verse and not too worried on the precision at this stage.
The Come Look with Me books I have a love hate relationship with…. Becca loves to pull them off the shelf and flick through them, she does really study the pictures and will be absorbed by looking at one or other of them for ages. However, for £5 a book I could get books for each period of art/style of art and give her a lot more pictures but not perhaps presented so well. There was a set of books that were stories about children which had some of the Great Artist’s pictures in them but I can’t for the life of me remember which catalogue I saw them in nor what they were called…..

Send me a booklist of what you are looking at buying, fairly sure I will have some in the dining room (do you a deal
)

Charlotte’s Web in on Preloved books this week (70p). And at least two versions of Heidi, but the catalogue doesn’t make it clear which ‘condensed’ version sonlight use. If it matters to you to get the same version. Jan - would you know the ISBN of the one Sonlight use?
Jan - we are still loving the CD you gave us. Seems to be right up E’s street and we’ve had no problems with loosing the extra bits.
Re Ishmael, I have one of his books, which on first inspection I loved, but I do struggle with some of it. It’s a bit too, um, well here’s one of my least favorite quotes… “Isn’t it great to know that whatever anyone teaches us, we did not evolve from monkeys….Now let’s pray for those who are confused and prefer to believe that we evolved from monkeys rather than the fact that God created us.” Grrrrrrrr on so many levels I don’t even want to begin to go into.
